Mini-Worship

1. Take a deep breath and center yourself

2. Enter the presence of the Lord

(All)Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning, for in you I put my trust.
(M)Teach me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
(W)Love the LORD, all you his saints. The LORD preserves the faithful.
(All)Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD.

3. Confession

God of my strength, my schedule tells me that a hectic week is coming. I cast out my cares, stresses, and pressure to you. Please give me your peace to calm my anxious heart. Bring the light to reveal understanding and comprehension of my learning. Refill me with energy of your life. I will make wise use of my time. I need you. I love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

4. Scripture reading

Philippians 4:4-8

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

5. Thoughts to share

Peace is such a sweet word. What is your definition of peace? Think about it. Here is one: a state of mind sensing the healing and wholeness with myself, with others, with all creations, and with God.

“Peace” in Hebrew language has very rich meaning. It is incredibly lovely. It has the meaning of being in a state of wholeness or fullness. It is a feeling of contentment, completeness, wholeness, wellbeing and harmony, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, the absence of agitation or discord. In short, peace is a mighty blessing on multi- levels! Such kind of peace is much desirable in our world. But how do we get this kind of peace?

Paul had a very firm life and profession calling. He loved it and he worked hard for it. There were adversities, trials and difficulties. But out of his experiences, he learned a few things in finding peace. He pointed out a few ways for us to cultivate peace every day.

a) Rejoice in the Lord. The world is ever-changing. God knows where to go. He promises to be good for us. We can trust His power and His wisdom.

b) Let your gentleness be evident to all. Gentleness means having room and flexibility. It lets self-ego go. It lets prejudice go. It lets pride go.

c) Give thanks. Giving thanks can help alleviate feelings of discontent, complaints, bitterness, irritation and anxiety.

d) Pray. Through prayer, we cast out our burdens to God who can help. We can be free from stress, fear and anxiety.

e) Think about good things. Like we become what we eat, we also become what we think. Let the thoughts of greed, ambition, envy, anger and pride go out of our minds. Good thinking protects our mind from pollution from the world and simplifies our lives.

We can take just one point to practice each day. See if we experience peace a little more or not.

6.Prayer suggestions

Eternal, almighty, and compassionate God, king of Peace, this is the day you have made. I’ll rejoice in it. I invite you to be with me- my person, my life, my works, my families, my relationships, and my life journeys. Be gracious to me and give me your blessed peace. May you bless the work in my hands and bless the people I serve. May I be the channel of your peace to the people around me.

7. Benedictions

May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.
