Mini-Worship

Oct 22-27, 2024

Take a few deep breaths and center yourself and quiet down

Entering the presence of God

(M)How precious is your steadfast love, O God!!
All people may take your refuge in the shadown of your wings.

(W)O. Continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your salvation to the upright of heart! (Psalm 36: 5, 10)

(All) I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living,
Wiat for the Lord, and let your heart take courage,
wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:13-14)

Adoration:

God of peace, thank you for your perfect peace. In this busy moment at this busy place, you find me to invite me into your peace. You take away my worries and concerns. Your amazing gentle power touches me. How amazing it is that you do not ignore the least. I praise your care. You are awesome, true and living. You are Lord. Amen in the name of Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reading

Mark 1:29-34 (NIV)

29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. 32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

Thoughts to share and to ponder

Jesus knew that the kingdom of God was not in official meeting hall on any recognized special day only. Wherever he went, either people's private homes or the gate of the city, he freely responded to people's needs according to his own mercy. He did so in order to tell people that the marvelous kingdom of God was near.

Sickness threatens human lives and disturbs the balance of their existence. Spirits confuse and pollute us. Jesus declared that God did not neglect the needs of our physical lives. His healing ministry approved that the kingdom of God was more powerful than sickness and spirits. The kingdom of God would come to people of all levels, all genders, and all kinds in all circumstances.

Living in our modern world, we have very advanced medical sciences. They are the gifts of God to our human beings. At the same time, more and more medical circles also recognize the contribution of our relations with God to one's overall physical and mental health. To the children of God, it is our privilege to experience God's saving grace in many ways. Tell Jesus and give your sickness, pains, and needs to him. He understands. He cares. He is much willing to let people taste the goodness of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is near. It is not abstract. It is not far away. We all can taste it in intimate and concrete way in our everyday existence.

Prayer

Suggestions:

God cares our real existence. He is willing to enter our life circumstances and to get us to move forward. Any worry? any concern? Come to tell Jesus.

The merciful Lord, the owner and giver of kingdom of God, thank you for your good news. This wounded world and our tired and broken existence need your touch. May you freely enter us and our circumstances and express your care for us. May you stretch your hand, heal, lift, and revive those who come to tell you. May we respond to you in our new life to stand up and to serve our neighbors in need. Amen.

Benediction

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
