Mini-Worship

August 13-18, 2024

Take a few deep breaths and center yourself and quiet down

Entering the presence of God

Psalm 147:1-11

1 Praise the Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting.

2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the outcasts of Israel.

3 He heals the brokenhearted,
and binds up their wounds.

4 He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.

5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.

6 The Lord lifts up the downtrodden;
he casts the wicked to the ground.

7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on the lyre.

8 He covers the heavens with clouds,
prepares rain for the earth,
makes grass grow on the hills.

9 He gives to the animals their food,
and to the young ravens when they cry.

10 His delight is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his pleasure in the speed of a runner;

11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Adoration Prayer:

Praises you, O, Lord, God of our salvation. As we stand here to count the years passing by and to look forward to the coming year, our hearts are filled with gratefulness and hope. Year after year, you do awesome works. You have answered our cries. You have forgiven our sin and transgressions. You have delivered us from harms. You have made the gates and ways for us to go forward. You have crowned us with your bounty. You have satisfied us with your goodness. O, God, praises to your mercy. Thanks for your steadfast love. We adore you and worship you. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Confession:

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Holy One of God. Evan as we acknowledge you to be Lord, we admit that we struggle to bow before you and to follow you. It is difficult to bow when our minds are rigid and our hearts are brittle. And it is challenging to follow, for your way demands commitment, but we lack energy and imagination to walk in that way. Forgive us, Lord, sending your Spirit to soften our hearts and minds with an overwhelming sense of your grace. Then we will fall before your mercy and rise to follow where you lead. Amen.

Scripture Reading

Genesis 1:26 -28

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

Ephesians 5:13 -20

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Corinthians 7:1

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

Sending Off Prayer-

Our Father in heaven, a new school year is here. A new chapter in (student's name)'s life path is to unfold. This is his/her x-th year. You have made them wonderfully and marvelously. You have bestowed them with unique talents. You have opened the opportunities for them. You have blessed their studies in many ways in past years. Thanks to you. As they are setting off to schools and are following their hearts, we entrust them once again in your care and providence. We ask that you open their minds and hearts to learn, to think, to discern, to meditate the knowledge that will prepare them for a life-long responsible and productive living. May you impart the wisdom in their minds, hearts, empower their wills and guide them as they navigate through all culture knowledge in this world. May you give them courage, faith, and sound mind when they face challenges. Please also place the joy, laughter, godly friends and mentors around them to grow up together. May your purpose for them in this life stage will be fulfilled.

Please graciously guide them to develop their talents and mind. They will taste the joy of learning. They will be able to express the beauty, goodness, and truth of your creation with their hands. They will grow into a strong and mature manhood/womanhood that reflect your special design. May you will strengthen them and bless their discovery journey about themselves in your care and revelation. May you pave their ways for graduation and each step after graduation leading to the next pursuits.

At this time, Lord of our lives and our knowledge, we ask you bestow all blessings they need and empower them to go on with their new school year in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. We ask you that you will send your church to be with them, to nurture them, to encourage them, and to uphold them. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
