Center yourself (take a few deep breaths and quiet down)
Enter to the presence of God
M: The Lord is our strength, our saving refuge, and our shield.
W: In Him, my heart trusts.
M: O, save your people, bless your heritage.
All: Be our shepherd and carry us forever.
Scripture reading
Genesis: 1-27-30; 2:15-17
1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. ” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food. ” And it was so. 2:15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Thoughts to share:
Long ago when God accomplished his wonderful creation out of very challenging circumstances, he chose a trustable person to take care of it. The Garden of Eden was a workplace. The first human being was placed there to work. In today’s term, “to take care” means a lot: learning, studying, experimental, research, management, quality control, security control, evaluation, maintenance, repair, update, naming, language, etc. God knew it to take all human beings to take care of his world. So He gave an order of work to all human beings.
Work is holy. To work is to share God’s mission in the world. God needs us in every section, every corner of the world and society to work. Not only so, he instructed that there would have different types of wisdom. Some will work fine initially but will lead to disaster. Some will work fine to the end with peace.
How do you see your work? Have you ever thought what you do is more important or less important than others ‘works? Do you have opinion on which work is holier than other work? Seeing through the word of God, we all are hands of God. Let us adjust our idea about work.
Prayer suggestion:
Examine your own idea about work and see if there is any area you need adjust.
God of life and work, you have a big picture about work. Thank you for including me in your plan. Yes, my work may be the least and unnoticed one. It is still a holy one from you. Teach me. Guide me. Give me the vision. Give me the heart of wisdom. Give me the diligence and joy in it. Amen.
5. Benedictions
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
