Mini-Worship

June 18-23, 2024

Center yourself (take deep breath and quiet down)

Entering the presence of God

(M)Blessed be the name of the LORD
from this time on and forevermore.

(W)From the rising of the sun to its setting
the name of the LORD is to be praised.

(M)The LORD is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens.

(W)Who is like the LORD our God,
who is seated on high,

(M)who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?

(M)He raises the poor from the dust,
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,

(W)He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.

Confession:

The Lord of all blessings, I thank you for all your provisions for my daily existence in the world. Yet, I so often loose the sight that you are the one who is above everything. I become distracted and misuse the blessings you gave me. Oh, God, I am wrong and I am sorry. May your name sit in the center of my being from the rising of sun to its setting. Amen.

Scripture reading:

1 Corinthians 3:1-9

3And so, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but rather as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for solid food. Even now you are still not ready, 3for you are still of the flesh. For as long as there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving according to human inclinations? 4For when one says, “I belong to Paul,” and another, “I belong to Apollos,” are you not merely human? 5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. 6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labor of each. 9For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Thoughts to share

Leadership is a difficult task. People are conditioned in time, cultural perspectives, personal needs and preferences. We pick, choose, and align according to our own natural instincts. Then we hate, punch, fight each other... Where does the war come from? Paul points out that it is our blindness of role, purpose and interconnection to each other.

God, let me be reminded of my role, function, purpose and interconnection with others in your big plan in where I am placed- my workplace, my family, and my friends, and other people group. Let me be your servant, working together with you and with others. Let me remind others of your design for us so that we will pursue peace together.

What is your role, purpose and relationship with others? How does it fit God’s whole plan for the world? Is anyone around you losing the vision of God’s design? Go and help him/her to understand it.

Prayer suggestions:

Pray to God to help you discover and understand your role in the place you are in daily life circles. Let him give you the wisdom to comprehend your purpose of being there. Let him work out the interrelationship in your place.

God of purpose and plan, you have placed me in where I am in now. Even though I am fixed in my job role here, I still want to know better your plan for me. Help me to realize my role here and find purpose in what I am doing and in my relating. Guide me one step at one time. Lead me as I am starting a new week again. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Benedictions

May the Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
